So hello everybody this blog is going to be based on the high school and LGS exam in turkey this blog is mostly for students that are interested to study in a Turkish school or parents that are interested in admitting their children in a Turkish curriculum school so lets begin
So lets begin with the most common question ” What is LGS ” so to understand what LGS is you first you need to understand the schooling system of turkey so the Turkish schooling system is divided in 3 parts :
Each of these consist of four years of a students schooling life , so coming back to the question what is LGS so LGS is the exam the decides weather or not you will go to a Lise [ high school ] from an Ortaokul [ middle school ] it is one of the most important exam that a student will face in Turkish curriculum , there are 2 tests per month and Saturday tuitions to assist students to get a higher score in the exam.
Types of Lises in Turkey
So now let me give you a brief description about each of these Lise [ High school ] :
Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi [ Technical Anatolian High School ] : This Lise [ High school ] features topics like computer science and other technical programs it has a tenure of 4 years unlike other Lise’s [ High schools ]the students studying in this Lise have to go through a period of 40 days for internship which is mandatory
Anadolu lisesi [ Anatolian High school ] : This is a regular High school that doesn’t particularly feature a subject or topic it has tenure of 4 years
Sosyal bilimler lisesi [ Social Science High school ] : This Lise [ High school ] features social science , English , Turkish language and their literature it has a tenure of 5 years unlike other Lise [High school ] in this 1 year period children are thought English language since it is featured by this type of Lise [ High school ]
Güzel sanatlar lisesi [ Fine Arts High School ] : This Lise [ High school ] features all sorts of art and craft has a tenure of 4 years.
Fen lisesi [ Science High School ] : This Lise [ High school ] features science and maths unlike other High schools it does not consist of foreign language such as English , Spanish , Japanese it also requires a very high score to enter it has a tenure of 4 years.
Spor Lise [ High school ] : This Lise features Sports and physical activities it has a tenure of 4 years.
Note : All the Lise [ High school ] mentioned in this list teach all subjects they only feature certain subjects and topics
So since you know the Types of Lises [ High schools ] lets move on to other parts of high schooling system in Turkey so after you finish your Ortaokul [ middle school ] Education and pass the LGS exam with a good score you start looking for Lise [ High school ] so i decided to list few points you should take care about while choosing a Lise.
Be very sure of which Lise [ High school ] you want to go because once you are admitted to a type of Lise [ High school ] it is a very long lasting process to shift from one type to another.
Well the answer to this question is yes but only a few Lises [ High schools ] have this system these Lises [ High schools ] are known as Adres’e Dayalı liseler [ Address Based High Schools ] also these schools have a policy that your home or living place should be in the same district of the ****Lise [ High school ] only then you are eligible to take admission in these Lises [ High schools ].
